Sean Patrick Hannity was born on December 30, 1961, in New York City and grew up in Franklin Square, New York. He is the youngest of four children born to Lillian, a stenographer and corrections officer, and Hugh, a family court officer. Hannity is of Irish descent; all four of his grandparents immigrated from Ireland.
He attended St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary in Uniondale, New York, and later studied at New York University, UC Santa Barbara, and Adelphi University, though he did not graduate. In the early 1980s, Hannity ran a house-painting business and later worked as a building contractor in Santa Barbara.
