Decibel Sounds: Meet Boniface Maina, Nairobi business magnet who started his multimillion business after saving nearly Ksh 500k

Public address is one of the significant art for business growth and development. Public address systems amplify and increase the voice of a person passing the message to the target audience. If you have a huge event, you ought to consider public address.
The systems can be acquired by hiring from an outdoor event service provider or purchasing from the market. It is recommended to buy your systems to avoid the hustle and bustle involved in hiring. One of your best partners in ensuring that your dream of an effective and efficient public address is Decibel Sounds.
With branches across Nairobi and Mombasa, the Decibel Sound deals in the sale and supply of musical instruments and a public address system. Once you have placed your order, the company facilitates the transportation of the equipment right to your doors.
Since its inception in 2015, Decibel Sounds continue to thrive on effective and efficient customer service. It operates three branches (two in Nairobi along Luthuli Avenue and River Road) and one in Mombasa along Bamburi Mtambo Square Plaza.
Speaking to Sacco Trend Magazine, Decibel Sounds founder Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Boniface Maina said that he was inspired by the industry in which he had spent eight years as an employee.
“Having worked in this sector for more than eight years, I thought of opening my shop to customers in my way. The urge to give customers what they deserve is what encouraged me and today, we are here because of the better services that we offer,” said Maina.

Power of savings
The CEO noted that his business idea was achieved, thanks to the savings he was making while employed. He said he had over KSh 400,000 in savings which he used to set up the shop and purchase stocks.
“I had KSh 450,000 in my savings account. This gave me my working capital – I used KSh 250,000 to set up the shop and the rest, I invested in the stock,” he said.
He revealed Decibel Sounds customers are one of a kind, loyal and promising.
“This is because of the services and quality of our products we give to them. We get clients from across the sectors, including churches, clubs, bands, music creators and public event organisers,” disclosed Maina.
Maina revealed that the return of the venture is overwhelming, recording profits in millions. He said the firm intends to open up one more branch along Moi Avenue, to meet the rising demands from customers.
Dealing with sound and public address systems has a myriad of challenges, just like any other business. But according to Decibel Sounds, these can be overturned if you dedicate your service to customers and invest in their needs.
“There is stiff competition in this market, but what I did in the first place, was to invest in quality and better services. That is what brings customers to your business,” he explained.
He said the business is expanding at a faster rate and projected major growth spanning across the East Africa region.
“We want to go into the international market. We are thinking of opening up branches in Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and beyond,” he said.

To upcoming entrepreneurs, the CEO has one clear message, hard work, determination and following your heart. He also urged them to save when they can and invest when an opportunity arises.
“Character, hard work, smart thinking, patience and trust in God are the key qualities. Do what your hands find, diligently. Save as much as you can and invest when it’s time to,” Maina advised.
