Born on October 15, 1944, in Alexandria, Egypt, Haim Saban was raised in a Jewish family that later immigrated to Israel in 1956. After being expelled from a youth boarding school, he attended night classes where a principal famously told him, “You’re not cut out for academic studies; you’re cut out for making money.”

His career started in music. In 1966, he played bass in a rock band called The Lions of Judah. They performed in London nightclubs and even appeared on the BBC.
