Nextech Networks: ICT Powerhouse Revolutionizing SACCO Security and Infrastructure
In a world where digital threats loom and system failures cost millions, financial institutions need solutions to safeguard customer savings.
SACCOs in Kenya have fallen victims of an outdated ICT infrastructure and weak cyber security, hurting their operations.
This is where Nextech Networks Ltd. comes in— equipped with cutting-edge technology, hands-on experience and a vision to transform the ICT backbone of Kenya’s financial co-operatives.
Founded in 2016 following a collaboration between Irshad Ibrahim, the CEO and other partner, Nextech Networks Ltd is not just another tech firm, but a dedicated enterprise ICT solutions provider with a laser-sharp focus on secure, scalable and regulatory-compliant technology for institutions—including the increasingly tech-savvy SACCO sector.
“We also offer specialized solutions like privileged access management to protect sensitive server environments. These are not luxuries; these are essentials, especially for financial institutions like SACCOs,” he said.
In addition, Nextech implements Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), allowing SACCO branches to communicate seamlessly and securely without ballooning operational costs.
“We started Nextech because we saw gaps in the way ICT services were being delivered. My partner is an ICT guru and I come from a finance background. We noticed that many companies didn’t truly listen to clients’ needs.
“We had been on the ground, and we decided to do things differently—build an organization that offers real solutions with personal engagement. And that is exactly what Nextech has done over the last eight years.,” Irshad explained during an exclusive interview with SACCO Trend Magazine.
Building ICT from scratch
Irshad noted that Nextech’s ICT ecosystem covers a broad spectrum. From cybersecurity and server management to data backup, replication, and regulatory compliance consultancy, the company is redefining what it means to offer end-to-end ICT services.
According to Jack, Nextech’s top ICT engineer, the company offers endpoint protection—laptops, mobile phones—and goes all the way to securing the enterprise perimeter with firewalls.
“We also offer unified communications and managed services. Think of us as your ICT partner who keeps your system running, secured, and compliant—so you can focus on your members and business growth,” the officer added.
Who are Nextech’s client?
The company’s client base ranges from government agencies to corporates. The CEO revealed that they have worked with Kenya Power, the ICT Authority, and Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), managing everything from firewalls to network installations and server support.
However, the company is expanding its reach, strategically pivoting to the SACCO sector.
Why SACCOs?
Irshad said SACCOs like other financial institutions have been vulnerable to the changing technology and cyber threats.
“Their systems are often exposed to both internal and external threats. A simple email link can compromise an entire system. We want to start by protecting their infrastructure, training their staff, and building a security-first culture,” he assured.
He cited newest SACCO client, NRS SACCO, which is already benefiting from Nextech’s deep-dive ICT security services.
“We are working closely with NRS to strengthen their firewall and network protection. It is not just about tech; it is about building resilience,” said Irshad.
Attention all SACCOs
One might assume that Nextech only targets large SACCOs with complex infrastructure, but the CEO was quick to correct that perception.
“We are here for all SACCOs—whether you are a tier 1, medium tier, starting out or have 100,000 members and multiple branches. Our solutions are scalable. We are not selling size; we are selling peace of mind,” he explained.
He said Nextech has invested in globally tested solutions and builds its services around frameworks that meet international standards, including those endorsed by leading research firms like Gartner.
“What we recommend to our clients… this is not guesswork. We use proven technologies, tested globally, to deliver real value locally.”
Beyond implementation, Nextech said it prides itself on after-sales service and continuous client engagement. They offer regular check-ins, customized reviews, and fast-track responses to support tickets.
“Feedback is gold. Whether it is praise or a complaint, we take it seriously. It helps us grow and keeps our clients happy.”
And their mission doesn’t stop at just delivering services. According to the fintech, its core values are built around integrity, commitment to excellence, and constant innovation—values that are directly reflected in their day-to-day operations.
Future plans
Looking to the future, Nextech Networks Marketing Director Ian Kinuthia expressed confidence in the firm as the preferred ICT partner for SACCOs across Kenya.
Kinuthia said this will ensure that no SACCO—no matter its size—is left behind in the digital transformation journey.
“We have a team of highly skilled staff. We want to be the best in this market. Our goal is simple: to give every SACCO the tools and support they need to run efficiently, securely, and worry-free,” said Kinuthia.
He added that Nextech Networks Ltd is offering not just a service—but a safeguard for the financial institutions that keep Kenya’s grassroots economy moving.
