Early Life
Axl Rose was born William Bruce Rose Jr. on February 6, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana.
His mother, Sharon, was 16 when she gave birth to him, while his father, William Rose Sr., was 20. His parents separated when Rose was two years old.
Rose was later raised by his mother and stepfather, Stephen L. Bailey. His name was legally changed to William Bruce Bailey, and he believed Bailey was his biological father until he was a teenager.
Rose grew up in a deeply religious household. He attended a Pentecostal church several times a week and also taught Sunday school.
Music became an important part of his life at a young age. He began singing in the church choir when he was five years old. In high school, he joined the school chorus and learned to play piano.
