President William Ruto has appointed former Embu Senator Njeru Peter Ndwiga as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Coffee Board of Kenya for a three-year term.
In a Gazette Notice dated October 30, 2026, Ruto announced Ndwiga’s appointment, which takes effect for three years.
Ndwiga is a former Cabinet minister who served as the Minister for Co-operative Development and Marketing. He also represented Embu County in the Senate, where he chaired the Senate Agriculture and Livestock Committee.
Before joining the Senate, Ndwiga served as a Member of Parliament for Runyenjes and Manyatta constituencies.
He represented Runyenjes from 1992 to 1997 before serving as the MP for Manyatta between 1998 and 2001. He was later re-elected to represent Manyatta on a Party of National Unity ticket, serving from 2002 to 2007.
Ndwiga takes over from Henry Gichuhi Kinyua, who has been appointed the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Council of the Coffee Research and Training Institute of Kenya.
