Kumbukumbu SACCO Upgraded to Licensed Deposit-Taking SACCO, Three Others Licensed for Non-Deposit Activities

SASRA CEO David Sandagi Kumbukumbu SACCO

Kumbukumbu SACCO Society Ltd has officially been upgraded to a licensed deposit-taking SACCO, while three other SACCOs have been licensed to carry out specified non-deposit-taking business, the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) has announced.

SASRA CEO David Sandagi, in a public notice, said the license for Kumbukumbu SACCO to operate as a deposit-taking society was issued on September 26, 2025. The other SACCOs licensed to undertake specified non-deposit-taking activities include ACK Imani Talent Regulated Non-WDT SACCO Society Ltd, Kenfam Regulated Non-WDT SACCO Society Ltd, and Urban Roads Regulated Non-WDT SACCO Society Ltd.

Sandagi warned that it is an offence under the SACCO Societies Act and related regulations for any person or entity to conduct deposit-taking or non-deposit-taking SACCO business without a valid license from SASRA. Members of the public transacting with unlicensed SACCOs do so at their own risk.

Licensed SACCOs are required by law to display their original license certificate prominently at their head offices and copies at all other branches.

“Public and private sector companies, institutions, and entities should cease and desist from facilitating unlicensed and unauthorized entities purporting to be Sacco Societies, to undertake illegal regulated SACCO businesses through deductions and remittances, and/or by providing electronic and digital channels and conduits to undertake such illegal regulated SACCO businesses,” Sandagi said.

He further stated that regulated SACCOs are prohibited from investing members’ funds in unregulated entities, and any such investments must be withdrawn immediately.
