Over 120 exhibitors participate in 2025 Nakuru National Agricultural ASK show
The 2025 Nakuru National Agricultural ASK Show is currently underway at the Nakuru Showground, running from July 2 to July 6.
The event has brought together farmers, government officials, innovators and over 120 exhibitors drawn from various sectors including agriculture, finance, education, hospitality and small businesses.
Organisers estimate that more than 100,000 people will attend the five-day event.
Held under the theme “Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” the show focuses on advancing modern farming technologies, climate-resilient agricultural practices, and linking farmers with markets.
With climate change threatening food security and economic stability, the theme has resonated strongly with both participants and visitors.
Speaking during the launch, Nakuru County Commissioner Dr. Loyford Kibaara assured residents and showgoers of their safety throughout the event.
“We want to appeal to residents and neighbouring counties to come and learn from Nakuru, which is the country’s agricultural basket. I want to confirm and assure the public that the showground is well protected and secure,” he said.
Nakuru ASK Show Chairman called on farmers to take seriously the opportunities presented by smart agriculture to help address the challenges posed by climate change.
Nakuru CEC for Agriculture Leonard Bor commended the organisers, saying the event provides a great platform for farmers to adopt innovative and profitable farming methods.
Deputy Governor Dr. David Kones, who attended the show on its second day, highlighted the county government’s ongoing support for local farmers.
He noted that since Governor Susan Kihika took office, the county has distributed over 34.5 million pyrethrum seedlings worth Sh146 million to 10,995 farmers.
Additionally, more than 394,000 grafted avocado seedlings valued at Sh131 million have been given to over 17,000 farmers.
Dr. Kones further revealed that 42 metric tons of maize seeds had been distributed to 10,500 vulnerable individuals and persons living with disabilities.

To boost the dairy sector, the county has constructed 10 milk cooling plants, eight of which are already operational. Plans are in place to provide standby generators for the facilities. The county is also running a subsidized artificial insemination program to improve dairy productivity.
Innovations in agri-tech and sustainable farming were a highlight at the exhibition. Kabarak University showcased cutting-edge solutions such as AI-powered farm managers, automated greenhouses, and livestock nutrition trackers, blending technology with agriculture. Taifa Sacco, known for its focus on sustainability, presented its green energy financing products as part of its expansion into climate-conscious services.
An awards ceremony held on Wednesday honoured various exhibitors for their contributions to agricultural excellence.
The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) won four awards, including Best Stand in Transport Services. Taifa Sacco was named Best Financial Institution (other than a bank), cementing its role in the cooperative sector.

Kabarak University received multiple accolades, including Best Stand Interpreting the Theme (Education and Research), Best Innovation and Invention Stand and the Branch Chairman’s Commendation Trophy.
While the core focus of the ASK Show is promoting climate-smart agriculture, the event has remained family-friendly. School children turned out in large numbers, enjoying petting zoos, interactive exhibits and displays by learning institutions. Cultural performances, food vendors and entertainment tents added a festive atmosphere to the showground.
