Co-operative Bank Reports 17% Rise in Profit, Boosts Dividend by 67%

Co-operative Bank of Kenya has posted strong full-year results for 2025, with profit after tax rising 16.9% to KSh 29.8 billion. The growth comes as the bank expanded its loan portfolio, increased deposits, and achieved record net interest income.

The bank’s board has recommended a final dividend of KSh 1.50 per share, bringing total dividends for the year to KSh 2.50 per share. This represents a 66.7% increase from KSh 1.50 declared in 2024.
Net interest income, the main driver of growth, surged 22% to KSh 62.9 billion. Non-interest income remained largely flat at KSh 29.0 billion, contributing 31.6% of total operating income. Total operating income rose 13.9% to KSh 91.9 billion, while profit before tax grew 15.8% to KSh 40.3 billion.

The bank’s balance sheet strengthened, with total assets increasing 11.3% to KSh 827.4 billion. Net loans and advances expanded 12.6% to KSh 421.0 billion, supported by manageable loan loss provisions of KSh 9.5 billion, up 9.2%. Investment securities grew 12.6% to KSh 246.4 billion, reflecting a balanced strategy of lending and investing.

Customer deposits, which fund the bank’s operations, rose 13.4% to KSh 574.2 billion. The bank’s cautious approach to funding ensured a steady loan-to-deposit ratio while supporting sustainable growth.

Earnings per share increased 16.4% to KSh 5.04, reflecting overall profit growth.
The 66.7% increase in total dividends signals confidence in the sustainability of the bank’s earnings. The final dividend of KSh 1.50 per share is subject to shareholder approval, with the total KSh 2.50 including any interim payments already made.
