Ushirika Day 2024: Sacco leaders deliberate on activities to be undertaken during International Day of Cooperatives

Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (SACCO) leaders have convened in Nairobi ahead of the 2024 Ushirika Day celebrations.
In a meeting held on Thursday, May 16, at the Kenya Bankers Association building, the leaders deliberated on the activities to be carried out during the International Day of Co-operatives.
Presiding over the meeting, State Department for Co-operatives Principal Secretary Patrick Kilemi urged the leaders to strengthen partnerships and collaboration between the International Co-operative Movement and national stakeholders to leverage the collective strength of cooperatives.
“This will address global challenges, promote sustainable development goals, and build a more inclusive Society,” PS said.
This year’s annual Ushirika Day will be held on 6th, July 2024 under the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better Future for all”.
The aim of Cooperatives Day is to increase awareness of cooperatives and promote the movement’s ideas of international solidarity, economic efficiency, equality, and achievements gained.
Among the leaders present were Acting MD KUSCCO, Arnold Munene, National Chairman, Macloud Malonza, Nairobi Director of Co-operatives, Mrs. Dolphine Aremo and among other National Cooperative organisations leaders.
